Please, someone slip this criminal an extra cookie after supper, because he did try really hard to evade the law. He was trying to escape police by ducking into a church, only there were police in the church at a service! They were kind enough to let him finish the mass before leading him back to the big house.
I guess he forgot to cry out for sanctuary.
