Et tu Starbucks?

I am aware that $5.00 for a cup of coffee, albeit a huge cup with a million grams of caffiene, is expensive, but in this Slate article from Friday, it tells about the Starbucks secret... Ordering a better coffee, and it's cheaper.
I'm going to Stabucks right now, and testing this out for you. I do this all for you :-)

I will update and let you know the results. Is the cheaper better??? Let's find out.

EDIT: Well, the barista who served me looked at me like I'd sprouted leafy green cabbage for a head when I asked about getting a "short Latte". She kept repeating "you want a Tall one?"
"No, not tall, short, like a highball"
"A what?"
"A Highball, a rye and coke in a short glass vs. a tall one. A short latte. "
More puzzled looks... I finally say, "Just give me a cup of Joy."
And that's the story of how I had my last cup of Christmas Blend Tea - Joy, for this year.

For more on the loss of Starbucks Christmas goodies see this posting from Christy

Jon Stewart to host the Oscars

I've always been a sucker for this 4 hour vacuum in the time space continuum. I will annually, sit with a huge bowl of salty popcorn, and pretend that I have any say in the outcomes of the categories. I will have my favorites, (I will have usually seen most of the films) and be rooting for them to win.

This year though NO QUESTION!!! I am having an Oscar bash, complete with hors' derves and fancy pants cocktails because my favorite American tv guy is going to be hosting the show!!!

Anyone want an invitation? Or if you have any good recipe's email to the_yecart@yahoo.com

Pat Robertson needs to be kept on a leash.

Last night while watching the good ol' CBC Newsworld, I heard Georgie say something about Pat Robertson, the crazy fucker that he is, telling his 700 Club followers that Ariel Sharon had this stroke, and is ill because he is trying to separate "God's Land". That's right, instead of seeing what Sharon has done as attempting to bring peace to the Palestinians and Israelis, he's saying that it's a bad thing to separate these people and give them what they want.

From Pat's website:
Robertson, an ordained minister and bible teacher, has been a life long supporter of Israel and has continually expressed grave concern over dividing the land of Israel. Robertson pointed to the book of Joel in the Old Testament to show a biblical perspective of God's view of Israel and efforts made from people who try to divide God's land:
"In the book of Joel, the prophet Joel makes it very clear that God has "enmity against those who divide My land." God considers this land to be His. When you read the Bible, He said this is my land. For any Prime Minister of Israel who decides he will carve it up and give it away, God said, "No, this is Mine." "

The middle east is owned by God apparently, and he has all this free time on his hands that he has nothing better to do than strike down his people who are trying to bring peace to the world. Yeah, that's the God they teach about in Sunday School. Right. Apparently, Mr. Robertson also calls himself Friends with Ariel Sharon. Yes, that is how you treat your "friends". Tell them that a terrible illness is actually God's wrath upon them.

I wonder how many times God looks down on us, and shakes his head because of people like Pat Robertson spreading hate and hard-feelings.

It's Wednesday night..Therefore I am @ Work

It could have been bumped up to a 7 or an 8 if I had some company at the mall tonight!!!! Instead, I'm stuck updating the mall website, (yes, I fill theose ugly templates with their wonderful crap) and looking like I'm actually busy so no one asks me any questions today. :-)

I'm here till 9:30. There is still time to come and entertain me!!!

My TV boyfriend rocked the dome tonight

George Stroumboulopoulos is my TV boyfriend. I have loved him for a long time. He's now the CBC's resident punk-ass, and he's hosting the Hour, an hour-long newsprogram that is both informative and funny...he's kinda like a Canadian Jon Stewart (my other TV boyfriend), but with less "fake news" and more "real news".

Anyhoo, tonight, he had a best of 2005 edition of The Hour, and he showed the Top 5 web clips. the #1 was a flash animation that was titled The End of the World. This is my new favorite animation, (followed now by the previous #1, the "Why Americans love their guns" segment in the film Fahrenheit 9/11)

Postsecret Secret hits close to home

When I saw this today, I stopped for a minute, and my heart sank. This made me think of a guy I thought I loved a few years ago. He knows who he is, and Kimmer, if you read this, you know much too well who he is...

I would have given a kidney or a lung if only he would have returned a small fragment of my affections. He did, but only when we were alone. He would never have acknowledged our stolen moments, or our evenings out doing regular couple things, if there were any of our other friends were there. He would come and pick me up from work, and we'd go get a movie or go out. He'd hold my hand, or kiss my forehead, and then walk away.

It took a long time to get over him, and some days, I still feel a tinge in my heart if I see something like this picture. I love my Husband, and I would Never stray. Trav is the best thing that ever could have happened for me. He loves me unconditionally. I am his forever. I am just haunted by a first real love that was very unhealthy, and I must remind myself of this sometimes.

MSN Sucks!

I have spent the last hour looking on MSN for my gal friend Midge's MSN webspace. MSN Sucks. I have not found anything close to her page, or even a listing of her email address. I even tried looking up just a blank list of people who live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada, and It told me that there were no matches. I call bullS*** because there have to be at least 5 people in this city who use MSN, Even though it SUCKS!

If anyone knows how to use these God-forsaken MSN search engines, please show me!!! Please! Or better yet, Michelle, just post your address for the world to see ;-)

If this hasn't happened to you, you are a liar :-)

I cannot put this in a better way than the ever fashionable Zube girl can so here she is. Please check this out, because I can't stop laughing!

New book. Rave review

I got a couple of books for Christmas. I cracked open A Million Little Pieces by James Frey on Sunday and got about 1/3 of the way through before I had to go to bed. It is an amazing book. If you have any queasiness though, the first 15 minutes of reading are the most gruesome that I've ever read. I don't want to say too much because I want you all to go read this book and then we can talk. Careful there is a spoiler ahead though.

Then to my delight, yesterday Oprah had him on her show and they talked about his experiences and addiction and recovery in general. The only bad thing about getting into this book "late" is that they spoke about a character in his book who I'm just getting to. SPOILER ALERT they said that she dies, and I was all "ARRRGH" to Oprah for spoiling it for me!!!

Recap since 2005 :-)

After Trav Killed our computer, I cried a little, and then went to work. I let y'all know that he was in crap, and then started my Weekend Off!!! YAY! I was kinda dreading New Year's Eve. I mean, it's kind of a letdown usually. I get dressed up, and go out and either end up being the driver of the evening, or people don't show up, or I don't know anyone, and end up alone. On Saturday, I just laid low until after supper. We went to Noel and Belle's house, and a few too many later, cabbed over to another couple's house, Keith and Zoie.
After a few more too many, we cabbed back home and crawled into bed. Honestly, I had a great time, even though I had just met Keith and Zoie I really like them. I can definitely see us hanging out with them more often...

Then bright and early on Sunday morning, Noel called us at the crack of dawn, (10:30 AM if I remember correctly...It was fuzzy...) to get us to go out for brunch and a movie. So off we went to the Center, to Tony Thomas for overpriced bad eggs, and to the Rainbow Cinemas for a perfectly appealing viewing of Rent. Belle and I were singing along with the cast. It was a fantastic afternoon. They want to make the "Brunch and a ______" a weekly event.

Anyhoo, I missed you all, I hope that you missed me (even just a little???) and I resolve to post much more often, IE never letting Travis make a computer decision ever again! :-)

Hello Saskatoon!!!! I'm Back!!!

Hallelulia! My computer is back! Yah Hoo!

I'm going to surf to all my internet-bloggie-friends, check out what they have to say, and then come back here and plagerize my heart out! Tee hee hee, I'm back with a vengence folks, look out :-)

In his infinte Wisdom...

My hubby decided that he would try to upgrade our computer on his week off... Now instead of having a slow computer, I have NO COMPUTER!!!!

I am in serious withdrawl. I'm supposed to be working right now, but I must blog somewhere!!!

Plus, here's the grounds for divorce. He insisted on taking the pictures that I took at Christmas off of the camera, and putting them on the computer. Then he deleted them, then he crashed our system, and lost all of my photos. ARRGH!!

I am not impressed! My Dad is going to have to email me pictures of Christmas. It's a good thing that Trav is cute, or else...

He'd better take me to see Narnia tonight. :-)

Cool web site

Check out www.futureme.org It's a site, where you basically send yourself a time capsule. You write an email to yourself, or anyone else really, and you set it to be sent anytime in the future. Kinda cool, eh?

Another Christmas come and gone

We made it home safely, although yesterday, we drove back throught the thickest fog I have seen in a very long time. From about 15 miles north of Chamberlain all the way to Saskatoon it was the spookiest feeling ever. You could see about 5 car lengths ahead and that's all. And Travis is playing the slowest music on the planet and was all about the drifting off whilst driving, so I got to drive the rest of the way and listen to Avril... Yah, kinda lame, but it kept me awake.

But we got back, and the first thing I see when we get into the house is the cat. The cat had shat all over the house. The cat had shat because it was mad. The litter was clean as a whistle. My fat bastard cat shat all over because we left him and the dog alone for three days. Anyone want a cat??? I was ready to kill him but after it was cleaned up, and he decided that he loved me again, and we cuddled for a bit, then it was ok again.

On a lighter note, I got completely spoiled this Christmas. I got a camera, some DVD's, Christmas decorations, some serving trays, a spa package, and my Grandma got me a Stack'n'Spin. I am excited to throw out my old cracked margarine containers and use my new toy! (Yah, I'm a dork, it's been documented already.)

I hope that everyone has had a great holiday season, and is excited for a New Year. A fresh start awaits us. I'm already writing my resolutions as we speak.

Careful, It's a rant.

A while back, Terri over at Going to the Country had a post about the holidays not stacking up to the ones that we remember from years past. I replied in her comments with this quote:

There's a line in the movie Garden State that has made a ton of sense for me lately:
"You know that point in your life when you realize that the house that you grew up in isn't really your home anymore? ...It just sort of happens one day, one day and it's just gone. And you can never get it back. It's like you get homesick for a place that doesn't exist. I mean it's like this rite of passage, you know. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for you kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I miss the idea of it. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place."
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Sometimes the memory of something is so powerful that you forget what it was really like. It's like when you remember the house being so big when you were a child, and you get there and it's actually on the small side.
This is really something that hit me this year. In the last 12 months, I lost my grandparents, had a miscarriage, and we lost our house, and in the midst of it all when I needed the support and emotional stability of a familiar place, I went back to my parents house and nothing was the same. Emotionally and physically.
The house has been reno-ed, so the look is extremely different. My parents are different too. My Dad is making more money now than he did when I was a kid, so things are different there too. It's strange seeing the things that they buy, and remembering that my Mom would buy things at the dollar store because she had to, not because she wanted to. And since my Dad lost both his Mom and Dad within months of each other, he's become a different guy. He's more open, and more willing to share his feelings. Home is not the same place that it used to be. It's not better and it's not a bad place, it's different. I go home, and My bedroom is now my brother's. I sleep in the den on a futon. It's not My House anymore.
There is a tradition in my hometown that if you are in town, you go to the Franklin Hotel bar on the 24th of December. It's a chance to meet old friends and reconnect with them. The people that I used to be friends with are all different now. We care about different things, and that's cool, I mean people have to grow, and change, but some of them have stagnated. I mean that they are the same person they were 5 or 10 years ago. They still are in the same place with the same people and doing the same things that they were before. So the people that I wanted to feel safe and comfortable with, were no longer safe or comfortable. The worst of it, is that I am made to feel badly that I wanted to leave and make a different life for myself. That I wanted to "get off the farm" is a terrible choice.
I hope that I have made changes, both good and bad, and uncovered different facets of myself in the last 10 years, and that this self-discovery and exploration has allowed me to see the world in a new light. I am able to be a better person because of it.
Ugh, I rant about the things that I can't change or that I have no control over.

Family and friends, food and wine, God, It's Great To Be HOME!!!

It's 20 to 9, and I've got the world's worst case of dish pan hands.

That's what happens when you are doing dishes for twenty. Mom made a 27 pound turkey. Bohemeth barely fit into the oven! I have eaten way too much, and had a glass of wine too many, but it's all good. :-)

We're all just lounging around, digesting, and trying to make room for the pies that Mom baked all yesterday. Dad and Travis are both smoring away and the rest of the family are laughing at them... It's a matter of time until my sister's boyfriend does something to one or both of them.

Santa and everyone else were way too good to me this year. I got everything I asked for. I got a new digital camera, so expect some pictures soon.

I hope that everyone has had as good a time as I have this holiday. Just remember to go easy on the 'nog... :-)

Merry Christmas

Just a quick post to say Safe travels to everyone, and Best wishes. I'll have more to say when I get home with my family. Merry Christmas Everyone!

Only 2 More sleeps

My Dad called last night. He ordered a fancy pants present for my sister Jennifer, but he got an email saying that it's on backorder, so now it's going to be her Birthday present instead of Christmas. Now I get to buy her gift for him here in the city, and then my Mom called me right after Dad hung up, and asked me to get something for my other sister, Christine. I thought that I had all of my shopping done!!! :-) Oh well, It's my Mom and Dad, I gotta venture out into the lines for them... But No One Else!!

Bad news

I got my period.

There goes another month of Clomid. Down the drain. I'm trying not to cry. But the dog knows something is wrong. I hope that Travis comes home soon. I don't want to be alone right now.

I don't know what to say. I'm definitely losing hope. Help. Anyone.

Pro-life vs Pro-choice debate

Becky has a link to a really interesting article about the pro-life movement on her site here. This is a very important issue in my life, and any woman's I would hope. Please check it out, if you haven't already.

The article discusses the different "levels" of the pro-life stance. ie: pro-sperm, pro-fetus, pro-baby, etc.

Sad, but it's not hard to imagine someone crusading as a Christian, and yelling at some unfortunate woman who is having to face abortion as her last resort. That's not very Christian in my eyes.
Wasn't it Jesus who said something about throwing stones???

I love my Husband :-)

Last night we opened gifts with my in-laws. We got Trav's Mom some gift certs and his Dad some fishing goodies. They had given me my gift already. I needed a new winter jacket desperately, so they got me a coat at the end of November.

I gave Trav his present. I returned the cell phone after this fiasco, and got him 2 Great Big Sea CD's and tickets to the concert at Centennial Auditorium on February 2nd. He was pleasently suprised. Trav still thought that he was getting a new phone. Tee hee hee!!!

He suprised me too. A while ago I started buying Sex and The City on DVD, and I have gotten all of them except season 6. I said that I wanted to buy season 6 on Boxing Day, while we were shopping for Christmas gifts together. He does listen to me sometimes!!

I was then told that I would be recieving something else, but that I had to wait for it, because Trav was waiting on it himself... Hmmm... I have no clue what else I could be getting. This one will be a total suprise for me. I'll keep you posted.

5 more sleeps until Christmas with my family

Well here is the final stretch. Today was my last day off until Christmas. Tonight we are going to open gifts with Trav's Mom and Dad. I am waiting for Trav to get home so that we can go.

Nothing exciting has happened this weekend. I guess that it's all going to come during Christmas!

Until then, go see Terri and join us in her neighbourhood. Draw yourself a house, and we'll all have a kick-butt New Year's Block Party :-)

First Christmas gift!!!

Went to Kim and Curtis' house last night to give them their presents. Kimmer gave me a lotion set from partylite that smells Awesome!!! We hung out for a while then went home.

This is the final stretch for the zoo / circus I call 'work'. We were $150 short today! ARRGH! What a mess...my mantra: Only 7 more days. (Which I work 6 of :-( Yuck)

I am off to bed now, some Saturday night. Going to bed at 9:00PM... only 7 more days...

Lord...Grant me Strength!!!

And now, the world's fattest Cat!!

Meet Fernando. He's 6 years old. He's fat. He's lazy. I love him.

Last night's events

I was on my way out of the house last night, and I was kidnapped! It's ok, they fed and watered me well...We went to the Fox and Hound's for beers and nachos. Bad combo. I had heartburn and a hangover this am. Oh well, at least it was good times! BUT I STILL NEED TO SEE THAT DARNED MOVIE!!!!!

I went out and bought the last fo my gifts at ten thousand villages this afternoon. Just being in that store makes me feel good. I love the products because they tend to come with a story. Not to mention that most of the sales people there know and love the things that they sell too. There was a creche that I really really wanted for myself... Hint Hint to Santa...

Girls night out anyone???

Who wants to go see 'Walk the Line' with me???

My sister was going to come in from Prince Albert today, but b/c of the snow, she won't drive. Any takers??? The showtimes are 6:40 or 9:40. I really want to see this movie so I may end up going alone (insert sad face here) so if anyone wants to save me this horrible fate, let's go!

Par-tay at the Pacific Theater tonight!

EDIT - I realized after I posted that this breaks all of the internet's rules about meeting strangers, etc. But I am trusting, and perhaps a little naive, and It's Saskatoon people!! Plus it's a public place. I live and work in the downtown areas of Saskatoon. I feel safe in this city.

Saskatoon's forecast

Current conditions:
10:00 AM EST Tuesday 13 December 2005

Temp: -2.7°C
Light Snow Wind: N at 18 km/h
Wind Gusts: 28 km/h
Windchill: -9.0 °C

I'm not having difficulty seeing the Bez from here yet, but apparently there is a snowstorm brewing west of the city, so hopefully there is a bunch of snow again!

12 hours of sleep later...

It's amazing how wonderful waking up from an amazing sleep can feel. I am so refreshed and feeling fabulous. Of course, I wouldn't have gotten that sleep unless I'd taken 3 spoonfulls of Nyquil.

How was everyone's monday? I slept, watched Oprah, Dr. Phil, slept, finished crocheting an afghan, and tried to start knotting a scarf. I seem to have forgotten how to knit. How is this possible? The needles feel so foreign in my hands. My Grandma taught me how to knit a couple of years ago and I was not very good at it, but I could do it.

If anyone knows of a good book to help me improve this skill, let me know.

"I'b sick...do'h really, i'b stubbed ub."

I feel like garbage today. In case anyone out there cares. I'm really whiny right now. Can you tell. I'm just grouchy, so I'm up surfing the inter-web to find things to cheer me, because I'm in a bad mood.

EDIT - It feels better just to get the giggles at the picture above.

Tonight's plans.

I was supposed to be going to the Make Poverty History event at Amigo's tonight, but My friend called and cancelled at the last minute. So I cried a little, and then decided that Since the Hubby is out, I will enjoy some quality alone time with the December Vogue, and a bottle of wine, and a bathtub...

Does anyone else out there read in the tub? Or am I just strange?
You Passed 8th Grade Math

Congratulations, you got 9/10 correct!

"Uh, I'm not a coke head"

Setting: Staff Washrooms
Time: 3:37PM

Scene: I'm comming out of the washroom, and having had a cold for the last week, I'm sniffling and rubbing under my nose. The next girl in line looks at me and says to her friend under her breath "I didn't know that she did that" Her friend then replied, " Well If I had to be that friendly all day, I would do it too."

Um, I'm NOT a coke head...Just for the record, K?

Hair Trauma

In case you need a little back story: Trav's bestest friend in the whole world: Noel = Hairdresser. My Hair = very, very blonde. Noel likes = Making the Very Very Blonde me. Me likes = not paying for an expensive salon hair job, and still getting an expensive salon hair job.

Ok, now that you are caught up... In the November Vogue, Reece is looking adorable as a brunette. I am admiring this hair for a month and I finally decide to do it. Noel asks when he gets to play with my hair again, b/c my roots are starting to need bleaching again. I tell him that I want to go brunette and show him the Vogue.

After some "Are you sure? Really Sure?? Really really Sure???" He then told me that he couldn't do it in one day. That he'd have to dye the hair an auburn shade first, and then a deeper brown after that had set, b/c if he didn't then my very very blonde hair would turn a lovely holiday shade of green.

In a week I hopefully will be a rich, lovely shade of brown. Until then, here I sit, a lovely shade of red instead. If my digital camera were working properly, I could show you, like Terri did, but alas, you have to come to the mall, or simply imagine my deep and mysterious red hair... Unless Santa is bringing me a new camera? (Hint hint.)

15 Sleeps until I see them!

I'm getting more and more excited to go home for Christmas with each day that passes. The visit from my Dad and Brother made it seem to speed up. Travis told me last night, "It hasn't been that long since we've seen your folks", but I informed him that it had been since Easter, when we interred my Grandfather's ashes that I'd been home last. Crazy how time passes.

on an unrelated note...
This am, Becky was on the radio talking about the international students off-campus work program. Apparently, these students are not allowed to obtain employment in the city, with the exception of a position within the walls of the University. That's kinda crazy. I mean, all students need to work. Things aren't free just because you have a student card. How are you supposed to eat, or live or buy textbooks or pencils? I complained about time management, and having to work and study while I was in school. I should have been more grateful for the opportunity to afford my beer nights with those pesky engineering guys. :-)

Starbucks Dealers...

From here.

John Lennon 1940-1980

Twenty five years ago today, the world lost one of the greatest singers / songwriters / poets / artists / activists in history. John Lennon was shot outside of his home in New York City by a deranged Mark Chapman.

I am a huge Beatles fan. Pre- and post- breakup of all of them, but John was always my favorite. When I'm asked who I'd like to meet, alive or dead, John always tops my list. My Dad was the one who introduced me to the Beatles, and I can remember the Imagine album being played on this day, even as a child. The same now in my own home, the Magical Mystery Tour is playing right now, the White Album is next.

YAY!!! Darren is going to work in the Happiest Place On Earth!!!

He just got offered a job in Disneyworld!

Congrats to you Darren, and remember who loves you when she comes to Florida and wants free admission to the park, and on the rides.... ( I'm hinting about me, I want into the park!!!)

I had a brilliant thought yesterday...

...And I was going to share it with you all, but as I logged on to do so, I got a phone call from my Dad and Brother. They had come to the city for the afternoon. So I got dressed, (I was in my PJ's, it was my day off) and I went out to see them.

My Dad was here for a business meeting with some people, so my brother Casey and I went out for the afternoon to raise heck! We did some Christmas shopping, and I pointed out things that I knew our sisters would like. It was a really nice afternoon. Then, @ 4 O'clock, we met my Hubby and Dad at Tony Roma's for an early supper. They were on the road by 6 and home by 10. It was a great suprise.

Only 18 more sleeps until I see them again!

Date Night Recap

So Trav came to pick me up at work @ 7, last night. We went and bought some Christmas gifts, and I got my new winter coat (Blue, my favorite colour). Then, hubby opens his big mouth, and starts talking about how before he came to get me, he was looking on e-bay at cell phones, and he's going to bid on a phone on Sunday. I start to panic, because I have just spent $150 on a new phone for him, and here he is running off buying himself one.

Does he not know the rule??? From November 15th through December 25th, you cannot purchase anything for yourself, so that others may purchase them for you!!! Anyhow, He ended up sensing my tension over the phone thing, and he said "What's the problem, you know that I need a new phone...You bought me a phone didn't you?" Then he sheepishly said, "let's go for supper now." So I never officially said that I did buy him a new phone, but he knows... MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Anyhoo, we grabbed some awesome Chinese food, and then we went to the 9:40 showing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The movie was awesome! The best of the four thus far, and there is a huge opportunity for the next couple of movies to go even darker. The return of Lord Voldemort was incredible. The books are amazing, but the movies are a great treat too.

I can't wait for the next one: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

I am going on a Date!!!

I am going on a date tonight! I haven't gone out with my Hubby since I don't know when, so this is a big deal!!

I also got my Christmas present from my In-Laws early. They saw me yesterday, outside without a coat, so they gave me a cheque with the instructions to buy a winter jacket today, or else :-) I'm working until 7PM tonight, and then Hubby and I are going shopping. (I need the second opinion, or I'll end up in a hideous shade of green, I'm sure)

I don't know what Trav has planned for our date, but I'll let you know how it all goes...

One of the best times of the year for movies.

The holiday season always seems to bring Hollywood's finest to our theaters in a last chance to grab that elusive Oscar buzz. I'm really excited about two offerings in particular.

The Chronicles of Narnia : The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is MY Lord of the Rings. When I heard they were making this series into movies I totally geeked out! I must have read and re-read these books as a child and I still read them to this day. I am really excited for the movie to open on Dec. 9th! I will be in line that evening for sure!

The second one that I am dying to see is Memoirs of a Geisha. I read this book last year, and I could hardly put it down. It is a must read, and probably will be a must see. I will probably see it at home, with my Mom at Christmas. She's the one that I stole the book from in the first place. :-)

A new baby!!

I LOVE NEW BABIES!!!

New York - Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck welcomed a baby girl into the world on Thursday. Representatives for both actors confirmed the birth. Their publicists said the child was born at 18:26 on Thursday. "Mother, father and baby are doing great," Sunshine and King confirmed. They would not give any other details. It is the first child for Garner, 33, and Affleck, 33, who were married in June.

I would be in so much trouble!

Police in Hartford Conn. are charging students with cursing. That's right, using the f-word, or s**t will cost you $103 US each and every time you utter the phrase. They apparently want to "bring back order to the schools."

If the student can't afford the fines, his or her parents HAVE to pay it for them.
WHAT!!! How does this teach them anything?? Here's the deal. The kids are going to swear so let's punish them by putting them to work picking up litter in schoolyards, or in public parks, a sort of chain-gang style of detention. How does a teenager learn anything if their parents serve out their children's sentences?

I swear like a sailor, at home, and after work, but not around children, and not in places where it is inappropriate. In fact, I'm sure that this morning alone, I would have been fined a total of $618 Canadian :-)

Tom Cruise needs to see a shrink, even though he doesn't believe in them.

Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, What is wrong with you? I used to love you, and now... I think that you are going crazy!

Sweetie, first of all, you said that psychiatry is a "pseudoscience", possibly ailenating people who need help from getting it because you are a big star, and what you say holds a lot of clout. And now, last night, on that horrible Barbara Walters "special" you tell the world that you have purchased a sonogram machine and that you, an untrained, non-medical person, are going to use it on your poor fiancee, Kate. The American College of Radiology is gonna be maaad at you!!!

"The ACR issued a statement warning that Cruise and Holmes could potentially harm their unborn baby by performing ultrasounds without the benefit of a doctor's supervision. "This is a patient safety issue. Untrained people, even if they have the financial means, should not buy, or be allowed to buy and operate, ultrasound machines which are, in fact, medical devices and should not be used without a medical indication," said Dr. Carol M. Rumack, chair of the ACR Ultrasound Commission.

"The ACR is concerned that Tom Cruise has been badly advised regarding the
use and potential abuse of ultrasound," Dr. Rumack stated. "There are many
abnormalities that may be missed by the untrained eye. Also, if it is not
medically necessary, the use of ultrasound raises unnecessary physical risk to
the fetus."

Tommy, my love, you need to get out of your scary cult-y scientology beliefs, and join us in the real world. there are plenty of rich people who don't act like jackasses, and you can be one of them. You even frightened Barbara during your interview with your admission of doing your own sonograms. "Wait, you are going to do your own sonogram?", She asked. "Yes," You giggled in response.

Please Tommy, use more common sense on these things. From now on, just because you can afford it, doesn't make it right. You could buy all of the Coke in Columbia, but should you... NO! The same goes for medical equipment, OK?

Rockefeller Centre Christmas tree lighting

This is something I would like to see before I die. I would like to go to New York, see the tree light up, go skating at the rink, go upstairs to a taping of Conan O'Brien, and then retire to a luxury suite in the Grand Hyatt.

Just one of those really detailed weird fantasies that I have, I guess..

Every person needs one once in a while

today's Toothpaste for breakfast

Yeah, or at least get Chris Noth back in here, so I can stare at him some more!!!

Everyone else is doing it, so why can't I?

Google your name and the word needs in "" : "Tracey Needs"

Tracey needs to grow up and admit the problem isn't Mooney. (I only know one Mooney, and it wasn't her fault)
Tracey needs to (respectfully) stop being self-righteously wrong, become humble and do some research.
Tracey needs someone to have her back.
Tracey needs to come up with an interesting costume.
Tracey needs a hot hand to take the zone off. (this one sounds dirty :)
Tracey needs to be on her own.
Tracey needs to know faith and prayer saved that girls life.
Tracey needs to be played as more petulant and dissatisfied. (Aren't I petulant enough?)
Tracey needs 1 more minute. (Don't we all)

har dee har har. OR. The next two months are going to be painful

As a Canadian Liberal (Don't throw anything at me yet) I have one question to all of cyberspace: DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY IN SASKATCHEWAN IN THE 80'S!!! If you do then we wouldn't think that the Conservatives are any better than the so-called corrupt Liberal party. Steven Harper's party should remember the addage about glass houses and stones and throwing things...

Sorry, that has been simmering since the whole Gomery mess began. Yeah, the Liberal Party took $$ that it shouldn't have and has done bad things, but SO HAS EVERY POLITICAL PARTY IN THE WORLD!!!

Let's all vote Green Party. Then that would be the change that we all want, and perhaps even a couple of good things would get done, and not just promised, in this world.

Ugh, I over simplify... Anyhoo here's a funny thought to make you giggle. From Small Dead Animals:
Last night, the opposition voted non-confidence in the government and forced an election campaign that will take place over the holiday season. This means two things: 1) the prime minister will this morning be visitng the Governor-General to ask her (very nicely, possibly while eating a crumpet) to dissolve the 38th Parliament. And 2) millions of innocent Canadian children will be confronted with the onerous task of staring into the television this Christmas season and trying to tell Stephen Harper from the Grinch.

Remember, kids: one is grumpy and has a heart two sizes too small. And the
other one's the Grinch.

Parliment has fallen

I watched CBC last night in a giddy anticipation. I guess that makes me a geek (tee hee hee), but this is history. I can tell my grandkids that I watched the vote go down. The government has fallen before, but not like this. The vote was to throw the govt. out directly. In the past, it's been where the vote was overturned on a budget, or other issue, but these 9 words "That this House has lost confidence in the government." will cause an election to remember.

Here's the kicker though, Canadian decided voters are still leading with votes FOR the Liberal party. There will most likely be another Liberal Minority government! This will be just like the election held in the United States last year. The blue states will be outnumbered by the red states and the outcome will be the same.

I believe that Paul Martin, in a few short weeks will be our Prime Minister once again. For better or worse, this may not turn out the way that Steven Harper thinks that it will...

Fred Funk skirts the issue

This was an interesting sports clip to watch. In a Saturday skins game, Annika Sorenstam made a wager with Fred Funk that she could outdrive him. they Both teed off, and Annika's drive was longer. She pulled the skirt out of her bag, and handed it to Fred, who pulled it on with a laugh. He did have the last laugh though, as he edged Annikaout of $75,000 while wearing the skirt on that same hole.

This is why you watch golf. The fashion. :-)

Happy Birthday Micheal!

This is My Baby Brother Mike in my family's basement last year, playing his birthday present.

Today is my baby brother's birthday. Mike is 15! Here comes the learner's permit! Sorry Mom and Dad, but he can't drive mine yet, so I guess that it's your vehicles in the line of fire :-)

It's 2:40 PM, I wonder if he's taken a car out yet? Probably, if I know my gene pool... ;-)

Happy birthday kiddo! I love and miss you lots! I'll see you at Christmas.

Buy Nothing Day

Buy Nothing Day came and went, and the only thing I purchased was a Diet Coke from a vending machine.

I was at work, and there were definite "Christmas Crowds" at the mall, but I guess that after some soul searching, and some budget checking :-) I really could live a day without buying anything like I usually do. I live at Shopper's Drug mart, or the new HMV, so today was a challenge. On my breaks, I had to make a very conscious effort to just browse or window-shop and not actually make a purchase. It was tougher than I thought to think through the needs vs. wants arena that is retail shopping.

How on Earth???

I wish that this were happening to me... Kinda. Not the 5 kids at once (!!!!!!) part, but the one week of clomid, and poof, a pregnancy.

I read about this on A little pregnant, and I thought, ohmygawd! I'm on this stuff right now, and It's wreaking havoc with my emotional well being. I'm very close to tears most of the day lately, and that is NOT ME! I am usually really stable. This is really hard on Trav, who is trying his best to deal with my mood swings. Although, as I did tell him, "You are lucky, Most women are like this at least once a month, and this is the first time in four years that you are having to deal with a crazy female."

Marital Woes are funnier when they aren't your own

For a good belly laugh, check out these posts. the first by Dixie is the accusal of the wife. the secone is by Marc, the husband's rebuttal. I'm going to make my husband read these because we have this fight at least once a week :-)

Long time, no blog...

The last couple of days have been excrutiatingly long. I haven't had anything out of the ordinary happen to me lately. I don't know why, but Thursday and Friday both were really long days.

There are more people in the mall now, which makes the days exciting and scary. You never know what people will be like. Sometimes the holiday spirit makes people crazy and other times, it makes them as sweet as sugarcane...

I personally like the holidays, and for more than the whole gift-giving thing. As I've gotten older, and my family has moved around and changed from our wild group of seven to an even wilder group of seven + (those pesky brothers and sisters-in-law, and boyfriends/girlfriends) the time we do spend together is more precious and becomming fewer and farther in between.

Only 29 more sleeps until I see them again!

Happy Birthday Christine

It's my sister's 22nd B-Day today! She lives in Lethbridge with her fiance, Dave. She's currently finishing a degree in Criminal Justice and she is also working at a youth detention centre. I'm really proud of her accomplishments. Shout out to the other cute blonde in the family :-)

(I can say that, because our other sister is a brunette, and my brothers don't count...tee hee)

More Holiday humor for you - UPDATE

Things have gotten worse here... is that Santa involved in the skirmish?!?! I can't tell which side he's on yet. I wonder when Christiane Amanpour will arrive with a camera crew to document this carnage.

More Holiday humor for you

This lovely home has been taken hostage by some crazy types (they are in the front Yard).

I'll keep you posted on the outcome :-)

The Cheney Controversy

This image aired on live CNN and immediately stirred up conspiracy theories. But yay for Canadian webgeeks like me, a Winnipeg blogger has discovered the truth here. And it is possible, I have checked with a friend who works at Global Television here in Saskatoon, and she does believe that it was a switching error. Her actual quote: "Live feed sucks. One error, and you get everyone calling you on it. It could totally happen because they have at least 5 feesd at at time on CNN. That's a lot of quick changes. Errors will happen."

Let me pray, then you can take me to jail, OK?

Please, someone slip this criminal an extra cookie after supper, because he did try really hard to evade the law. He was trying to escape police by ducking into a church, only there were police in the church at a service! They were kind enough to let him finish the mass before leading him back to the big house.

I guess he forgot to cry out for sanctuary.

Put another giant hunk o' roo on the barbie, Mate!

This post from Colby Cosh is a 15 out of 10 on the EEEW scale. Although, I would have said the same thing about aligator, and snake had I not been tricked into eating them at the time.

Foreigners probably see Bambi, and then hear about us eating venison and think "Ohmigawd! Those savages eat poor baby deers! What did that deer do to them? Deers are cute and cuddly and don't cause any harm!" I am under the impression that deer and kangaroos are probably just the same... they taste good in a sausage. :-)

A joke to make your Monday more tolerable

The President, First Lady and Dick Cheney were flying on Air Force One.
George looked at Laura, chuckled and said, "You know, I could throw a$1,000.00 bill out of the window right now and make somebody very happy."
Laura shrugged her shoulders and replied, "I could throw ten $100.00 billsout of the window and make ten people very happy."
Cheney added, "That being the case, I could throw one hundred $10.00 billsout of the window and make a hundred people very happy."
Hearing their exchange, the pilot rolled his eyes and said to his co-pilot,"Such big-shots back there. Hell, I could throw all of them out of thewindow and make 56 million people very happy."

Thank you brain poo!

Anyone know how to make snow?

Tonight at Sparks, We're having an Outside Night. Basically just an excuse to go outside and play in what I was hoping was snow! Now, It doesn't look too good....

Because of my late Saturday night, I slept in on Sunday, which threw off my sleep for last night. But all was not lost, because Trav and I stayed up and watched Kenny vs Spenny. Are boys really like this in real life?

Not sleeping now

I can't seem to fall asleep tonight, so I'm up surfing and watching PBS. I'm rocking out to Franz Ferdinand on Austin City Limits right now. Not Really putting me to sleep, more makin me want to go out dancing.

Can this band rock live or what!?!?! I wish every one could see this. There's something hot about a crazy skinny rock and roll geek just groovin and givin'er' (sp?) Live bands are great, but if they can pull off not just kick ass music, but look like complete nerds, and dancing around and stuff, then the show really rocks!

I'm going to bed now. The show is over. Good night Saskatoon! There will be no encore!

Grrl made me cry...

I read this poem today on her blog, and It made me cry. It reminded me of the fourth or fifth date that my then-boyfriend and I went on. We were with one of his cousins on a double date when Carl (Trav's Cousin) got a call that his Dad was in the Biggar hospital, and it wasn't good.

There had been wine, and I was really the only one who should have driven, so I did.

I raced to Biggar, praying that I could get them there in time. When we finally arrived, I said "I'll stay in the car" and Travis' Aunt told me that I should come inside. I still am amazed that in their time of ultimate grief and family togetherness, Travis included me. He let me do my own thing, and I did try to stay at a distance, but you get pulled into someone else's grief and it's the least you can do to ensure that everyone gets home alright.

After the fact, I was told by a friend that I was strange to be ok about going to witness the family at such an ugly time, but I feel I was blessed to see this family's last moments. I was not "happy" to be there, but I was glad to be of any help I could be, to the man I was falling in love with, and his loved ones.

Side splitting laughter

For a week now, I've been checking Andy's page for a new post. He's had this post up since Nov. 10th, and every time I see the headline, I nearly have an accident. In fact, just thinking about it makes me giggle uncontrollably.

I was a fan of SNL since my days of baby-sitting and when staying up "late" was in vogue. I have liked Will Ferrel the best since I saw his first skit. The Cheerleaders Craig and Ariana, his Celebrity Jeopardy skits and the "Naturalists" Where he would "sit in the moonlight with his luv-har" These just crack me up!

Television without Borders

I am mouring the loss of Queer As Folk.

It's been gone since last spring, when the series wrapped up it's fifth season. I just watched the Original British 5-part mini-series last night, and now I want to watch my Canadian version all over again.

My second cousin is a producer at Showcase so I'm a little attached to the network. I am addicted to most of the programming. There are some good series that could only air on cable, and I'm glad that someone has the balls to show them. Like Dead like me or Six Feet Under. I recommend these and other highly addictive shows on channel 25 in S'toon's Shaw Cable!

Ex-boyfriends

I am euphoric right now.

I just had one of those encounters with an ex that every girl dreams of... The kind where I looked Hot, and he looked like crap. The only thing that would have been better was if my Mr. was here too. The best part? He knew that I was looking good too!

It's not nice to think these things, but every female on the planet should have this moment. (Especially if he wasn't as nice as he should have been to her)

Ladies back me up here, Has this ever happened to you, and Am I right or worng in celebrating this moment? Let me know.

Merry Christmas everyone!

The mall is playing Christmas Carols over the P.A. system. This is eliciting 2 very different reactions:
  1. Yay! People singing along, and happily going about their business...
  2. Crap! People coming up to me, and Bitching about the music.

I can't change it, so I grin and bear it, as should they. Here's a neat tidbit for you. One of downtown Saskatoon's most recognizable panhandler's came up to me tonight and complained about the music. All I could think was, if you don't like it, go get a job, and listen to the radio there!

I am running out of steam for this season already. I need a good night out. Bottle o' wine, dancing, friends, Good Times... That would recharge my batteries for sure!

Monday, November 14, 2005

I just had a conversation with someone that made me feel weird...

I called the bookstore in the mall, and asked if they had any copies of the new PostSecret book. The lady on the phone said no they didn't, but then she went on to say what a fan of the site she is, and that she can't wait to get the book too.

The personal nature of that webpage makes you feel like the info is only for you, and then to find that others read it and feel the same way is unnerving. Maybe I'm just weird. Obviously other people read the page, I'm not silly to think that it belongs only to me, but still... When I have a "small world" encounter like that it makes me feel like I've shared a secret with someone else now too.

Saskatoon Santa Claus Parade

My Sparks and I were in the Parade yesterday with the city's Girl Guides. It was a nice day. The weather cooperated, the girls were happy to be there, and I got a Starbucks on a Sunday. All around winner of a Sunday! :-)

I will post a picture of us, if I can get the photo upload to work. I have been having issues the last few days with it...

Working on a Saturday

I'm working today with Joshua. He's one crazy mo-fo! He's totally into Spiderman. He's got this awesome book with the first 20 Spiderman comics all in one anthology. It's a pretty cool set.

Here's a pic of my dude and his cutie patootie wife. She's so nice! They are the cutest couple. Newlyweds...Sigh! I remember being a newlywed. :-)

Today really sucked here. The place was packed. People everywhere. Yet, we were very bored. Anyone who reads this...PLEASE come to the mall and entertain us!!!

What have you done today?

I just turned off the tv. Oprah was on, and since I was home for an afternoon (for once!) I watched my favorite multi-millionare.

Her show was inspiring. It was an update on a family that Oprah had helped last year. This single mom has her 3 kids, and her brother's 7 kids, and her elderly mother living with her in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment. Oprah bought this family a home, and had cutie patootie Nate Berkus redecorate the home. Awesome to see the family overwhelmed with emotion. It brought a couple of tears to my eyes. Then Oprah tells the 10 kids, You need to promise me that you will do your best in school, and make your Mom, and Auntie proud. When the time comes, I will, not the Angel Network, not My Foundation, But ME, I will pay for all of your college education.

WOW!

Then she revealed the theme for this year: What Have You Done Today?

That's a great question to ask yourself every day.

Thursday musings

I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long
The future is coming on...
- 'Clint Eastwood' by The Gorillaz
I am rocking out to a CD I just recovered from a box labled "Misspent Youth". I kid you not. The Gorillaz were a favorite 5 years ago because I had a Major crush on a guy who looked like Damon Albarn the lead singer of the bands Blur and Gorillaz.

It's kinda crazy to go over some of the songs that you were really passionate about in the past. They can take you back in an instant. I hear a silly song like "Barbie Girl" by Aqua, and I am crusing up and down Albert Street in Regina on a road trip with my girlfriends in grade 10 with brand new drivers' licenses. I hear Blink 182, and I'm back working at the Pizza Hut on 8th St. working with Curtis in the morning slicing veggies and making pizza dough...

I hear memories in the songs. Does that happen to everyone?

I can't wait to go through the rest of these. I don't remember what went in here, so this is an adventure in music today!

Creepy Guy Alert part 2

So, if you look down a couple of posts, you'd see a note about a "creepy guy" in the mall...

Later on that night, I'm outside waiting for my hubby to pick me up, and he's there in his creepy green jacket with his creepy green smile and he's all breathing funny and heavily... I'm not a hottie, so I'm not used to guys panting at me (smiles and laughs) so I'm definitely freaked out. I call security on my cell THANK YOU MOM FOR MAKING ME GET ONE and they come to the doors. Creep dashes across the street towards the Royal bank.

See, I'm not judgmental, I'm intuitive. Midtown sure has it's share of crazies.

Buy Nothing Day

I just saw a link to this website on This Grrrl's page. I have mixed feelings about this.

For 24 hours, millions of people around the world do not participate -- in the doomsday economy, the marketing mind-games, and the frantic consumer-binge that's become our culture. We pause. We make a small choice not to shop. We shrink our footprint and gain some calm. Together we say: enough is enough. And we help build this movement to rethink our unsustainable course.
I agree with the Idea of this day. We need to realize that spending doesn't make things better in this world, and most of us are living beyond our means. Yet my income is dependant on people's spending. There are Millions of jobs in the retail sector in the world, and if people stopped spending, there would be more people on Social Assistance. This is definety not an easy subject to debate.

Creepy Guy alert

There has been this really creepy guy hovering around this area of the mall today.

I know a lot of people are judgemental, and jump the gun, and say that people are creepy before they really should, but I generally don't do that. This guy is really weirding me out. I'm hard to creep out - People-wise.

This leads to the question, What makes someone creepy?

1) He's staring.
2) He's invading the personal space of nearly everyone around him, on purpose, and yet for no reason at all... Not to ask questions, or make conversation, he is just leaning into them.
3) He is grinning with a really strange smile as he's staring at you.

4) I'm picking up on a weird vibe from him.

I don't know if any of these points alone are enough to qualify him as "Creepy" but today, the four combined are enough for me.

I am a grouchy ladybug!

The Grouchy Ladybug By Eric Carle

I have just NOT been sleeping lately. Not well at all. And I have been really cranky lately because of it too. Travis has been sick for the last few days, so He's been getting to sleep in and skip work. I on the other hand, have not had that luxury.

If I don't get some sleep tonight, I'm just not comming in tomorrow, no excuses. I Just won't show. Personal Day for Me!!

Television Last Night

Two spectacular shows aired last night.

First, on a not so serious note... The West Wing on NBC

This fictional account of a presidency has been on the air for six years. The President, Jeb Bartlett, is on his way out of office, and that means an election is looming. Last night the show was a live television "Presidential Debate". The pretend Republican candidate Arnold Vinick (Alan Alda) surprised the audience, along with his fictional Democratic rival, Matt Santos (Jimmy Smits), by saying at the start of the show that their rules of the debate be thrown out.

"When the greatest hero in the history of my party, Abraham Lincoln, debated, he didn't need any rules, we could junk the rules." He said. His opponent agreed. It made for one of the best political debates ever televised.

Makes you wonder why the real candidates won't ever debate this way?

And the second show last night...

Much more real. CBC Newsworld aired the 2005 Best Documentary Feature winner Born Into Brothels. If you haven't seen it yet, find it and watch it. A graphic account of children living in one of the poorest areas of the world. Zana Briski is the woman who is teaching a photography course in the red-light district of Sonagchi, Calcutta to the children of the prostitutes and drug dealers who live and work there. She gives each of them a camera and an unlimited supply of film. Then after each roll she develops, they gather and discuss the photos.

The children have amazing insight into their situations. Kochi, one of the girls says to Zana "One has to accept life as painful and that's it." The photos that the children take are breathtaking. There are self portraits, shots of the neighborhood, and the people who live there. One of the most disturbing images (and there are indeed a few) was of a small boy, only 2 or 3 years old chained by his ankle to a steel bar. Why he was chained, and by whom, is never revealed.

Avajit, another one of the child photographers said it best : "People here live in Chaos"

Post secret

There is a website called PostSecret. I read about it first in a National Post article. They had some of the postcards in the paper, and it really intregued me. I went to the site, and now I check it every Sunday when the new ones go up.

I suggest that everyone go look at least once. There are cards that make you question your own thoughts and beliefs every time you look. I'm not saying the post-ers are right or wrong in their views, but they do make you think long and hard sometimes.

The guy who does the Post secret webpage, just relesed a book of all the secrets on the webpage. I would be interested in seeing these again. I might have to buy myself a Christmas Gift early...

Periods and the lack of one.

Funny, but as the day rolls around to the start of my fertility treatments, there is a post about a National Post article on feminine hygiene product advertisements on Becky's blog.

I made a post that we as women should be happy to have a period, and yes be proud of it. I kinda just ranted on, because I'm feeling so torn about my body. I have to use drugs to induce something that women and girls take for granted each and every day of the year. I used to be one of them. I complained, and bitched, and moaned that it was that time of the month and now I don't get a period more than twice a year if I get that lucky.

Travis and I really want a family, so now, it's 10 pills to make me menstruate and 5 to make me ovulate, and blood tests and more injections, and more blood tests... It's a terrible cycle.

I pray that we will be blessed with a child, and if after the 12 or thirteen tries that I am allowed on these drugs nothing happens, then we will try to adopt a baby. If God wants me to have a child he will provide one. I just get worked up when I see girls taking their bodies, their fertility, and in some cases that I have seen in the mall, their children for granted.

I hope that I didn't offend anyone over at Becky's site. I just am all hopped up on estrogen right now... :-)

Maybe riding the bus IS good...

I have it on good authority (Telus Mobility Employees) That riding the bus in Saskatoon is a worthy cause, because you are helping to eliminate the release of toxins into our atmosphere. Also because the Bus Drivers are getting HOTTER!!!

And I quote: "The guy on the #18 express today...Lovely...Yummy...I could Ride all Day!" If you are the 30-something driver with blonde streaky short hair, wearing shades and sporting a soul-patch, send me an email, and I'll hook you up with a real crazy-sexy-cool chick.

Anyone else need some matchmaking?!?! Email requests to the_yecart@yahoo.com, and I'll do my best.

New job???

I got a phone call last night from an acquaintance who is working in a call centre. She tried to talk me up on this place to get me to apply. After she got off the phone, I went to the company's web site and looked around. It seems ok, but I kinda have a good thing here. The pay isn't great, but I have a lot of free reign. I can work on my projects in pretty much whatever order I want. I can visit with friends without fearing repercussions. I can take breaks when it is convenient for me. Short of being my own boss, or working from home, this is a great job. I would have to get a really spectacular offer to make me even consider giving two-weeks notice here!

[Like $12.50 an hour and better than my current benefits Spectacular...]

I'll keep you posted. (and if they are offering that spectacular a deal... I'll let everyone know who and where so you can get it too!)

A Shoe Blog!!!

Karl Lagerfeld and Valentino
Quote from www.shoeblog.com: "the Valentino he is all, what the hell am I doing here standing next to this idiot."

I just found this blog while - ahem - working this morning. (What!? I do not surf the internet while I'm getting paid! I work hard... Oh who am I kidding) Anyhoo, this was there and it gave me a laugh. I am going to visit here more often.

November Vogue

I am in love. This month's Vogue is spectacular, as always, but there is a bonus treasure this month. I can usually skim the "cover celebrity interview" but this one is of Reece Witherspoon. The pictorial, shot by the legendary Annie Leibovitz (more on her later, I'm sure) is of Reece and Joaquin Phoenix as June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash.

Reese is stunning in Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chloe, and the best, an Oscar de la Renta beige silk dress that I stared at for at least 5 minutes. This is what I want to look like when I'm grown up.

Help Desk Quandry...

I had a really funny ha-ha time today. My computer at work crashed. No problem, just call the helpdesk, and get them to walk you through the reboot and linking onto the network again, right?!?! WRONG! The help desk can be accessed though two venues: Email or Phone.

The phone # was not printed ANYWHERE!!! Where does one find it? On the computer's desktop. How do you access the desktop to get the #, and how do you send an email when your computer HATES you!?!?!?

Funny how "technology" works these days...

How did I fix this? Well, I'm smart, and I realized that the Cornwall Centre in Regina runs off the same network that we do, and if they aren't having problems, they could get me the #. Yay for Cornwall's Guest Services!

Food fit for a Queen

I think that Pita Pit has the world's best pitas. If you can prove to me otherwise, or can suggest one better, please share with all of us. I am scarfing my pita right now, and It's Perfect!!!

I hate working the night shift. There is no one here to do anything for at night. I feel that my talents are being wasted every time I have to sit here after 5PM. I have skills that I will never use if all I do is tell people that Shopper's is beside Sears, and the mall is open until 9. ARRGH!!!

The worst of it, Kernels is making popcorn right now, and I desperately want some!!! My will power is dwindling as I type...

Yay Snow!

It is officially winter in my world. It snowed last night. Unfortunetly, it will all be gone before too long. I always liked winter the best. You can put clothes on, but you can't get more naked than naked.

This is awesome! Snow means winter, winter means Christmas, Christmas means family.

Star Wars III : Revenge of the Sith

Travis and I just got back from a friend's house (Noel and Belle) and we watched the bestest Star Wars movie ever!!!

I hate to ruin movies or books for people... But I have to. This was just too good to keep to myself. In this movie, Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader!!! I know, CRAZY!!!!

Just kidding, if you watched any of the Star Wars movies, or you have a pulse, and have any pop culture knowledge, you already knew that. Seriously though, this was by far the best of the six movies. There were some serious twists and suprising turns, so even if you think you know how it ends, still a great show.

Edit: Check out Pooing in the Woods for this delightful commentary on Star Wars:ROTS

I have bought 2 poppies already, and I need another!

I think that it is a secret government plot to make people buy poppies four or five times every year. The darned things never stay on your coat. I would rather pay $5.00 to get a good pin that catches and locks, rather than donate a dollar or two over and over again!!! Secret conspiracy I tell you! Not that I disagree with the support for the Vetrans, I just think that we should build better pins :-) Freedom Rocks And Vetrans should be hoisted on our shoulders as often as possible.
